Waterloo to CBD: The George St & Castlereagh St Bike Paths
City Ride 2: A separated commuter link from Waterloo Station to the CBD via the Redfern George St cycleway and Prince Alfred Park.
This ride offers an excellent connection from the inner-south to the Sydney CBD, largely utilizing dedicated cycle infrastructure. Starting from Waterloo Station, the route quickly transitions onto George St in Redfern, a popular cycling artery. It then flows through the green spaces of Prince Alfred Park and proceeds along the east side of Central Station, passing Belmore Park. The final and most significant segment of the journey is on Castlereagh Street, which now features a terrific inner-city cycleway, providing a safe and efficient run directly to the intersection with King St. This ride provides a clear, separated path through several key inner-city landmarks.

Starting at Waterloo Station and then a second photo on the way to George St. Not at all perfect but at least there is a Metro station in the area.

Where to next?
While Ride 2 is a premier north-south spine through the city, it also serves as a major transit hub for several other key routes. Depending on your final destination, look out for these transition points:
🌉 Heading to the Harbour Bridge: Most importantly, this path intersects with Ride 4: The Western City Link at Liverpool Street. This is your primary gateway if you are heading toward Darling Harbour or the Sydney Harbour Bridge and on to the north shore.
🏁 Reaching the Harbour: The ride concludes at King Street, which places you right at the start of Ride 1: The Pitt St Cycleway. Follow this to complete your journey all the way to the ferries at Circular Quay.
