This 4.6km journey offers a separated commute from the leafy streets of Redfern straight into the heart of the harbour city. Starting on the iconic Bourke St Cycleway, the route provides a relaxed, tree-lined start before transitioning into the modern infrastructure of the CBD. Where to next?
While Ride 1 is a terrific north-south spine, it also serves as a gateway to several other major routes. Depending on your destination, look out for these key transition points:
🌳 Heading East to Centennial Park or Bondi: When you reach the intersection at Devonshire St (look for the light rail tracks), you can peel off to join Ride 8: The Centennial Park Connection. This is your best bet for a scenic loop or for continuing further east toward Bondi Junction via Ride 6.
🌉 Heading West or to the Harbour Bridge: Instead of following the main path onto College St, you can continue straight down Liverpool St. This branch will lead you toward the western edge of the CBD, Darling Harbour, and the bike ramps for the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
