The First Hub Page, 2.8 million views and Strava
The CycleSydney map usage keeps growing, the SubStack followers have sharpened the focus on the website and how to follow Garry as he moves across the city
Over the last week or so the following happened. The CycleSydney map views passed 2.8 million views.
How do we keep upto date ? If there are changes across the city, we find out about it on social media and make a note on a map to go and visit the path. This will be recorded on the day as part of a Strava recording. The map is then updated that day.

“While those updates are great, they weren’t the ‘biggie’ for the week - mapping and Strava have been happening for eight years now. What I’m truly proud of is the launch of the first City of Sydney Hub Page. This isn’t just a list; it’s the debut of what I believe to be a unique cycling map style (worldwide). By organizing the map into specific ‘Rides,’* I’ve created a system where there is no overlap and no confusing loops—just the most direct, high-quality journeys across the city (all 3km or longer). Ride these, and you’ll slowly become an expert on the city’s cycling network.
* The Philosophy: Most maps show you every street a council deems ‘rideable,’ or they rely on A-to-B navigation that changes every time you move the pin. This Hub page is different; it’s a digital learning tool designed to help you master the network. This is just the beginning—there are 100+ rides across Sydney in the works, 60 have been recorded, and this will be the first of six Hub pages explaining those rides.”
