Cycling in Sydney - One Ride at a Time
Rebuilding the map using lots of rides across the city
Rather than bamboozle you with the 600 diffetent route options on the Sydney Map from the get go, we are going to explain all the cycling infrastructure across Sydney, one ride at a time.
To illustrate this, lets look at the first 5 rides that were placed on the map. They are
Bourke St Zetland to Circular Quay - purple
Waterloo Metro to Castlereagh st - green
Rozelle Park to King St in the city - red
Liverpool St to Milsons Point across the bridge - yellow
Sydney Park in Erskineville to Zetland past Waterloo Metro - blue

Explanations These first five rides lie in an area called City of Sydney which just so happens to be the City of Sydney council boundary. The rides themselves do not have to be exactly inside the boundary, some may initiate outside of the area. The numerical ID of the ride (Ride 5 say) is not that important except that it will mostly keep the same ID even if the ride moves a bit in the future.
That is an explanation of the Rides concept that will be used as core for the CycleSydney map. The next article I write will show Ride 1 on a RideWithGPS map, will show a 3D view of the ride, will show pictures and even YouTube videos from the ride itself.
